Intergenerational Dissonance in Building a Postcolonial Society using Namibia as example (engl.)

Our guest will focus on the following issues: Short introduction to the history of Namibia an the process of building a postcolonial and post conflict society. It identifies the heritage of colonialism in current social challenges, such as (gender-based) violence, familiy disfunctions, drug consumption or (mental) health. Remembering history could be an important process of healing a divided society and intergenerational differences. And finally, what is the role of social work within this social challenges?

  • Steven Bernardus Harageib, Head of Programmes at One Economy Foundation and Technical Director at Office of The First Lady of the Republic of Namibia. He has more than 10 years‘ experience in the non-profit sector and educational background in social work, he manages the #BeFree movement an international youth movement that stimulates non-judgmental conversations impacting over 100 000 young people across the globe.
